As many of you may have heard, seen or read. A next generation iPhone was “found” at a bar near Apple’s Headquarters. This find answers many questions and rumors about the next-gen phone. No official name has been released, although the iPhone 4G (4th generation iPhone, not 4G network) and iPhone HD are the most popular choices.
Well, the reason I’m writing this on a Photo/Video blog is because of the confirmed additions to the iPhone HD/4G. A front mounted camera on Sprint and HTC’s new EVO had me leaning to the real 4G/WiMax network. The ability to video conference or stream live from an event or production is nearly priceless for us. When in our studio iChat is on nearly 24/7. The potential ability to iChat from a cell is phenomenal. The iPhone HD/4G front mounted camera indicates the ability to make this a possibility. In addition, the phone has a nice new design that blends well with all the new Apple products. MicroSim card slot, as used with the iPad, larger rear camera and the greatly appreciated LED flash. With Apple’s announcement of OS 4.0 and its included multitasking, the next-gen iPhone will now compete with a better arsenal against the Android 2.0 phones and devices. iPhones have a strong hold on the Smartphone market and will become even stronger after the release of OS 4.0, and the official sell date of its newest addition to the iPhone line-up.
Back to the story of the lost phone… Gizmodo reportedly paid $5,000 to the man who “found” the lost phone and placed a detailed breakdown of the device on their website. With the story reaching national exposure, Apple’s lawyers have requested the safe return of the phone…or else! Gizmodo obviously complied. This breach in Apple’s top-secret project will force one of two things: #1 an early release of the new iPhone HD/4G. #2 a drastic and definitely costly attempt to redesign the facade of the phone. The send option is less likely. So, an earlier-than-summer release is extremely possible. If you’re planning on getting an iPhone 3GS, I’d recommend waiting just a little longer for the more powerful, more functional, and larger (80gigs +) iPhone HD/4G. Sorry EVO, I’m evolving to the new iPhone.
